Models of Doctoral Studies

There are two models of doctoral studies at UoC’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities: an individual doctoral project pursued in the standard model “Regular Track” and participation in the structured doctoral model, “Integrated Track”.

You can begin your doctoral studies within the Regular Track anytime. For more information on how and when to apply for admission to doctoral studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, please visit the pages of the Central Doctoral Office. Admission to doctoral studies is granted by the doctoral board (“Promotionsausschuss”), which meets twice per semester.

The programme of the Integrated Track starts each year in April. You can participate in the Integrated Track either as a collegiate, without financial support provided by the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School, or within different funding programmes of the Graduate School. For admission as a collegiate you apply with the above mentioned application for admission to doctoral studies. In this application, the applicant must indicate which model of doctoral studies he or she is applying to (“Regular Track” or “Integrated Track”). Here you can find more information about the funding programmes, for which different application deadlines apply. The admissions committee of the Integrated Track decides upon all applications.
