Attention: the vernissage on March 27 will not take place!
The kunstfenster of the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School for the Humanities Cologne (formerly a.r.t.e.s. galerie) was created in 2009 by doctoral students of the former a.r.t.e.s. Research School. Developed as a doctoral project, today the kunstfenster is an integral part of the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School and thus the University of Cologne.
In light of this academic tradition, the kunstfenster does not “merely” make use of the university’s facilities as exhibition space, but also fosters dialogue between art and scholarship. To this end, each semester it provides young artists with a venue and the opportunity to present and communicate themselves. In the annual exhibition, artists can realize individual and group projects, which are open to members of the university as well as the public. A vernissage, a framework programme, a flyer and posters, and the websites of the university and the graduate school call attention to the exhibitions. And it is accompanied by a small catalogue accounting for both sides of the dialogue – art and scholarship.
