Katharina Niemeyer-Grants for Language Editing

of Dissertations not Written in the Author’s First Language

With the Katharina Niemeyer-Grants, the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School – the graduate school of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities – supports the language editing of dissertations of both foreign and German doctoral students at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities that were not written in the author’s first language. The grant is awarded in memory Professor Katharina Niemeyer (1962–2018) – a class mentor from the very beginning, a dean who supported us to the best of her ability, an inspiring academic teacher and researcher who was particularly committed to enhancing the internationality and multilingualism of dissertations at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Katharina Niemeyer, Professor of Spanish Literary Studies at the University of Cologne from 2002 to 2018, embodied, like no other, the “a.r.t.e.s. effect” that she claimed as the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy. She will remain an inspiration to our graduate school.

Applications for the grant are possible at any time.
