Funding Programmes

The a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School supports all doctoral students of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities through a variety of funding programmes and measures to provide optimal conditions for their doctoral studies. Doctoral students can apply for the following structured funding programmes at a.r.t.e.s.:

Calls for applications for doctoral scholarships in the Integrated Track (“a.r.t.e.s. Doctoral Scholarships” and “Mercator Scholarships”) are published in the winter semester, calls for applications for “Scholarships for the preparation of a doctoral dissertation project” in the summer semester, each starting in the subsequent semester. All current annoucements are published here.

Holders of the doctoral scholarships participate in the a.r.t.e.s. Integrated Track. In addition to the standard path to obtain a doctorate in Cologne (indvidual doctoral studies in the “Regular Track”), doctoral students at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities are also able to pursue their doctorate in the structured doctoral model of the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School, the “Integrated Track”.
