The a.r.t.e.s Graduate School for the Humanities Cologne is responsible for all doctoral studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Cologne.

All information concerning admissions to doctoral studies, the examination process, the web portal a.r.t.e.s. access, as well as the current doctoral regulations can be found here.

Please note: Doctoral examinations at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities are conducted according to the doctoral regulations of 11.06.2015 and 12.03.2020. The right to conduct examinations in the subjects of Political Science and Sociology expired on 30.03.2019.
 
As of 12 March 2020, the new doctoral regulations of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities apply to all doctoral candidates admitted for the summer semester 2020 and beyond. Doctoral students who have not yet submitted a formal application for a doctorate can change to the new regulations upon application. More information about this change can be found here.
